According to the Pew Charitable Trust, when foster youth leave high school and do not enroll in college, within two to four years, many experience unemployment, go on public assistance, battle homelessness, or become involved in the criminal justice system.
- Nearly $2 million in institutional scholarships awarded
- Seven full-ride (tuition, housing, books and supplies) scholarships offered
- One student admitted to Cornell with $320,000 in institutional scholarships awarded
- Three students offered substantial scholarships ($20,000 a year) to attend Howard University
- Four students are finalists for the $30,000 Jackie Robinson scholarship
- $1000,000 in outside scholarships received so far
In our upcoming impact report, we trust you will be inspired by the incredible stories of determination and success that EST has had a hand in guiding. Our combination of guidance counseling, application support, scholarship and financial aid navigation, and one-on-one mentoring is driving success for these student. Together, we are changing generations—one student at a time.
One of the greatest lessons the pandemic has taught us is the importance of compassion for each other, especially the neediest among us.
